mhm.. I am not much experienced in that stuff. but what if you look how the external postgis plugin (by Uwe Dalluege) works that is on the download page [1]. The PlugIn class will give you a starting point - and then you could parse/trace what happens step by step (if you load OpenJUMP and the plugin code into an Eclipse project - see the wiki on how to do developments with OJ).
