from my experience doubleclick only is feasible if a wrong detected one click 
does not hurt. i understand that in this case it would 'delete' earlier 
measurements. that's not good.
if so, think about replacing this with a keyboard/mouse combination 
(shift+click?) and keep a (context)menu entry handy for gui only users.
