so finally I tested the new buffer dialog.

I think its fine and in this case it makes sense.
The graphics are very helpful as they change with each option.
But yes, we need to be careful in not having too many options - so that 
the user does not need to guess what he needs to change for running the 
function. On the other hand its important that the user knows what 
options are all set automatically to explain differences in results 
(from an academic & educational perspective)
