Hi Stefan,
as far as I know, neither Kosmo not GvSIG or Udig can read OSM files. Udig
(jGrass) can save to OSM but not read. QGIS (not java) has a OpenStreetMap
plugin on developing which can either read XML OSM files or download them
form OSM API (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/QGIS_OSM_Plugin)
JOSM is more atractive, I feel.
