Hi,
I thought that there would be a tool for selecting endpoints and startpoints of
geometries like we can select centroids but I could only find such tool from
the Sextante toolbox under the Topology category. I am happy with the Sextante
tool now once I found it but the task feels rather simple and it might be
useful to have it also as a native tool.
We do have "Extract points" tool which can be used for finding the start points
by selecting points with sequence_id from the result set. However, for end
points the sequence_id varies. How about making a comprehensive Extract points
tool with some enhancements? New check boxes should be added
- extract all points
- extract start points
- extract end points
"All" should be mutually exclusive with the "start" and/or "end" selections and
there might be new Boolean type columns "is_start" and "is_end" which would be
populated also for the "All" selection. The attributes of the three-point
resultset of "All points" run for a three-vertex line would look like:
FID item_id sequence_id is_start
is_end
1 0 1
1 0
2 0 2
0 0
3 0 3
0 1
