Besides the 12k routes limits, the 28k MAC addresses limit is not a hard one but somewhat less than a comparable ME6500 unit, which supports 256k routes and 64/96k MACs.
If the Juniper EX software releases bring some Carrier Ethernet features, the box could be a strong competitor on the Metro Ethernet arena. I hope Juniper realises this and put some effort into it.
