Jonas,

Thanks for responding. So to confirm, you do not have a problem when cold booting the M7i with it not "seeing" the SSD until a soft reboot is performed?

Mike,

i wrote the procedure on cluepon. I can really recommend doing the
upgrade to SSD. Even tho most harddrives used in the M-series are rated
for 24x7 operation...they are still harddrives and prone to failures. I
havent had a single problem with SSD's yet. Also the boot times speed up
dramatically.

Jonas

Not had any issues yet, but we're doing a round of h/w upgrades on our M7i's and figured this was the time to do it if we were going to do it at all.

I thought that was resolved a long time ago when they stopped using
laptop-grade hard-drives for higher quality hard drives (someone please chime
in here if I'm right or wrong). Have you specifically had an issue?

Subject: [j-nsp] SSD in M7i

With the notorious unreliability of the M7i HDs, we are considering upgrading to
a SSD. I see a procedure on Juniper Clue for this, but have seen other posts to
this list with people having difficulties (e.g. SSD not "seen" until a soft
reset). Can anyone confirm that they DO have a SSD working in an M7i, and if
so, what make/model and version of JunOS?
