In a previous message, I mentioned a disaster that
eventually prompted the building of a very high-quality burn
treatment hospital in Galveston, Texas which is about 40 miles
from Texas City. I had a minute so I looked it up on Google
which sends you to wikipedia. If you look up Texas City
Explosion, you get an account of an explosion in Texas City in
2005 of a BP oil refinery. While that was a tragidy, the event I
was referring to occurred in 1947 and is, even to this day, the
worst industrial accident ever in US history.

The local morgue and all hospitals were overwhelmed and
it was one of those horrible events that changed the way
disasters and emergency preparedness are handled both here in the
US and other countries.
