I guess I did get a bit wound up. The older I get, the
more patient I get about some things and the less patient I get
about others. Sorry about that.
It was a wonderful break. It's nice when one's time is
one's own.
My father is doing better. His knee is now well and he
is more like his old self. You won't believe this, but he
actually bought some chickens. They are very small right now but
growing fast. They are called Rhode Island Reds and then a
friend gave him two more which are coal black so we don't know
what type they are.
Dad was commenting on how interesting they are to watch.
He had actually gotten some more chickens earlier this
Spring but he put them out in a run he had built in the back
yard. It turned out to not be secure against what we think was
probably a cat who got in and killed every last one.
Dad was very upset about this and has ordered an
enclosure that really will be secure. Since nobody saw what
happened, we don't know it really was a cat but our neighbors
have an outdoor cat along with a few other cats we see from time
to time. There are also occasional raccoons and skunks which are
capable of doing this sort of damage, but who knows.
