Hello everybody I’m kind of getting that feeling again about having to pack up your possessions, (including your troubles), and move house. We’re moving shortly and I want to be ready.
Well, no, not really! We, as in my family and I, are not moving house at all. It’s Just Chat which is moving house. I’n busy porting everything across to a new server, primarily because I’m pig sick of having to perform LDAP database reconstructions, and then repair or replace the data which doesn’t quite make it through the scrambling process our server keeps insisting on performing most nights. In short folks, we have a fatally ill server installation here, and it’s time, I think, to do the honourable thing, let it pass away into oblivion. So, before I do, I should tell you all that I currently have a database of all members of this group and their E-Mail addresses. If you would prefer not to be a member of the group when we move, or if you would prefer to take the opportunity to change E-Mail addresses, could you please respond off list, and please, I said “Off,” not “On” list. I stress that because I tried asking for that kind of info on Mac Access recently and people just went ahead and totally ignored my requests for off list responses. Thus, we ended up with a thread of not far short of a hundred pointless needless messages saying things lie “I’d like to stay on the list”, or else, “Gordon asked you to reply off list”, you get the picture? I do not, not, not want that to happen again here. I think most of the members, if not all, are more responsible in this instance, so I’m not anticipating a problem. But please do let us know by sending a message to: [email protected] and I’ll modify the database. Actually, this seems like a good idea to tidy up the list a little. So henceforth, it shall be “[email protected]” and its support address shall also be under that domain.
