First, ask Norris Boyd whether he'd see value in it -- Norris wrote  
the current bytecode generator (among other things) in Rhino, and is  
currently maintaining the project. If he'd see value in it, then  
opening a Bugzilla issue and contributing a patchset would greatly  
increase the chances of it happening :-)
