I could not find any solution in order to fix that error...
Maybe I should synchronize the access to the shared template, although I don't
know if this is a good idea.

At first that was the case, but I changed the code.
Now every thread has its own XLSTransformer, but the error still appears
The only thing shared is the template.
What else could be the reason for tat error?

It looks like Commons Digester parse() method is being invoked on the same
instance of digester.
Do you use the same instance of XLSTransformer when generating your excels in
multiple threads?
