Hi Jeff,
the jxconfig file is written for the first time when you run
JXplorer, but after that it is only updated (for options you change
within the JX GUI), not overwritten. So you can safely make changes
to the config file and they will be preserved.
*However*, I think you really only need to do this for 'quick
searches' - In the search dialog there are two check boxes for 'Alias
Options', and if you do searches from here it should use these
settings rather than the default - if you leave them both unclicked it
should use 'never' for that particular search.
