The "deleted" emails are still on the server, just flagged as Deleted.
I just wondered if K-9 could access them.

Inherited from the previous system

There are quite a lot of local folders and rules.
If needs be I can switch to server-based folders.

I moved several gig of email from local folders into gmail via IMAP, using desktop Thunderbird, a year or less after importing them all from my old MH mailboxes into Thunderbird.

Moving one folder at a time went pretty smoothly.
