I had problems the first time I tried to set up outlook.office365.com in
K9 earlier this week. 

I was successful by creating an IMAP account connection. 

You have to do a manual set-up, not automatic as it chooses incorrect
incoming and outgoing server addresses etc.

Incoming server
outlook.office365.com
SSL/TLS (always) & port 993
Plain Authentication
Username: full_name@email_address.domain
Password: your_password

Outgoing server
smtp.office365.com
Starttls (always)
Port 587
Require sign-in
Username: full_name@email_address.domain
Password: your_password
