It happened again and I had activated the debug log this time.
Unfortunately, there is not much debug output from K9 in the log file.
Using the adb command as described on the K9 page, I only got:

But I also have the full log. But it only goes back to 07:39:47. It would
be good, if K9 would write its own debug log and keep the last 24 hours.
I noticed this in the full log:

There are lots of those and they continue until 07:40:25.

* activated Airplane mode at 00:06:47
* deactivated Airplane mode at 07:40:47
* started K9
* K9 refresh spinner was spinning all the time
* noticed battery drain
* killed K9 at 07:50:00
