I get that some companies do that. I take issue with referring to my current and past employers as not being "official" companies. Two of my last three employers are multi-national, and I'm sure my current one is one everyone here has heard of. Before that I've worked for numerous companies that at the very least spanned the country or had a worldwide presence. But hey, I guess if you don't require graphics in you're e-mail, you're not official, even if you are publicly traded or widely considered one of the best companies to work for.

Some companies know how to post-process the e-mail and add that sort of thing on through their mail servers. They're the same ones that tack on other messages about privacy when they get processed.

But in the world of mobile, where every bit costs money, signatures with graphics eat up extra bandwidth and it is far more responsible to not require such things of your employees. And just because your employer may require the use, doesn't mean your favorite e-mail client is required to support it. Mobile e-mails should be more concise. And receivers should be more forgiving of typos and the like. My expectation is shorter e-mails, less precise.

In the time I've been on this forum, I've seen this and related questions (html in signatures, images in signatures, etc) asked numerous times and I've not once seen a developer address it indicating it's a feature anyone is going to work on. I would suspect you'll get more traction with Kaiten, a commercial branch of K-9. I believe it supports rich text e-mails so maybe you can do what you want in the signature field.

K-9 is open source. Maybe the company you work for can fork their own branch and force HTML signatures on the world.

But hey, I'm not a developer, I just take advantage of the wonderful product the developers of K-9 have created.
