Have you tried the:
[global] settings
display
threaded view
setting? I don't use it so don't know how well it works. To get your
replies you may need to set it so that copies of messages you send
from K-9 are sent (bcc'd) to your account's inbox. [see account
settings/sending mail/composition defaults for that setting.]
