This has occasionally happened to me when I update system or K9.
In the case that K9 has used the majority of the battery power, I've
reinstalled K9. That fixed the power usage problem.
This is relatively easy if you're using IMAP. Remember to export your
account settings first.
Not sure how you do this with POP but someone on the list can help.
