You may want to select the "incoming server/configure the incoming mail server" option under account settings/fetching mail. Just select the "next" (without changing/entering anything) and see if it shows you anything more. Normally it just spins for a second or two, while connecting to the server, and then returns you to the "fetching mail" options page.
