I think have noticed this too, but it is hard to reproduce. I am using
5.007 from f-droid on CM 12.1.
I do notice a delay from reading the message and it going non-bold to
the notification being withdrawn. Generally, when I view the message
and it becomes marked Read, the notification goes away. It also goes
away when I mark the message read from another client.
Are you using IMAP? What if you check for new mails again? I wonder if
the marking of the message Read is not round-tripping through the
server, and if maybe that should be local.
Reproduction recipe:
k-9 5.007, cm 12.1, IMAP account with push
be in inbox view
[send message from elsewhere]
message arrives, appears bold/unread, notification posted
turn on airplane mode
touch message header to get message view, message is marked read
locally (no longer bold)
(other clients of course do not see this)
notification is not withdrawn, even after most of a minute
push back button to see inbox view. notification still there
push back button again to get to home screen. notification still there
turn off airplane mode
soon, read mark posted to imap (observed on another client). notification
withdrawn.
So my theory is that fetch/push marks some state for notification and it
is only updated on fetch/push, not on local marking of read. Totally
unsubstantiated by actually reading the code of course!
