The actual DNS lookup works fine (logical name -> numerical IP). If there is no reverse lookup (numerical IP -> logical name) involved I have no idea where that error comes from. I can create the outgoing server in settings (and it is the same as the incoming server which works fine) and I believe that K-9 does check the server at that point as well.
