Currently each folder set to push opens a separate connection to the server. 
This is a basic principle of the way that IMAP IDLE works. 

Some servers limit the number of connections available. So if you have more 
folders than that then Inbox may not be able to open a connection. 

I did read at some point about an extension which allowed for fewer connections 
but neither we nor many/any servers implement it. 

In general the assumption is that you will probably only care about push on the 
Inbox.
