About fetching, check that you're using your full @hotmail.com address as user login, and check both password modes. Now, a handshake failure means that it fails before login authentication, because of wrong host, port or SSL/TLS. Once solved, you'll have to set SMTP AUTH (still w/ full [email protected]). For the devs: since many smtp servers advertize the password encryption protocols they allow (smtp.live.com does it), we should have an "automatic" mode here for password type and k-9 mail should get its magics to make it working.
