I've noticed that when I select an email that has no replies from the folder list view, then use the "<" and ">" buttons at the bottom of the screen to advance to newer unread messages in that folder, if I encounter a threaded email I only see the newest message from that thread. There doesn't appear to be any UI that allows me to view other messages in that thread unless I go back to the folder list view and then back into the message.
Is there some way I can advance through all my messages, including all messages in a thread, without having to back out of the message view and tap back into the thread (without disabling threads)?
