Has this issue been solved? Or is there acceptable a workaround? I got the same problem, and it seems nothing has changed for a couple of years. The only thing keeping K-9 from opening an attachment after saving it, is the fact that I sometimes have more than one app installed for specific file types. So Android asks me what app to use. This way I still have a chance cancel the process of opening a maybe compromised file, e.g. before scanning a zip file for malware etc. (Those scanners are usually not listed by Android as compatible apps.) But what if I remove some of those apps Android lists, and I have maybe only one compatible app left. Then Android will just open the file without asking. Bad!
