Thinking a bit about the problems that K-9 has with the ineffectiveness of IMAP push, I noticed that at least some IMAP servers have the ability to push events to external event systems. And of course there's the XAPPLEPUSH extension (though I know that the iOS notification system works differently and doesn't involve the actual phone application). Does K-9 have any ability to listen for any kind of push notification from Firebase (https://firebase.google.com/docs/cloud-messaging/)? Is there any possibility of adding something, even something simple like an instruction to "wake up and poll now"?
I know that there would still be plenty of work to be done to actually create compatible event servers and of course every site would need their own Firebase setup. I was just wondering if there was, or could be, a very simple hook into K-9 to use as a base for experimentation. - J< -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "K-9 Mail" group.
