I hope I can explain the issue as it is quite convoluted. *The basic issue is getting folders to show up in K-9 in a consistent way and having deletion reflected on the server immediately. These two activities appear to have a conflict.*
I have two IMAP accounts - gmail and one with Telstra. In both accounts I have created two folders that I specifically want to show up in K-9 on my android device. For both accounts the results are the same Scenario 1. if in Settings --> Accounts --> fetching mail --> incoming server --> auto detect IMAP namespace = AUTO Now if I goto the folders for each account, then select Folders --> show follder --> All Folders Select Refresh Folder list All folder that exist show up ( I can then set them as 1st class, 2nd class , and their various polling, etc attributes). If I open one of these folder the fist time I have to select download mail (25, 50 or 100 what ever is set up) and the mail show up, subsequent opening of the folder and the mail is there. *So all works very well.* However with IMAP namespace = AUTO *when I delete mail in the Inbox it does not get deleted on the server immediately* even though in Settings --> Accounts --> fetching mail --> Sync server deletions = ON and when I delete a message = delete from server and erase deleted messages on server = immediate Scenario 2. if in Settings --> Accounts --> fetching mail --> incoming server --> auto detect IMAP namespace = no selected, and IMAP path prefix = Inbox Now if I goto the folders for each account, then select Folders --> show follder --> All Folders Select Refresh Folder list *The folders do not show up* However with auto detect IMAP namespace = no selected, and IMAP path prefix = Inbox *when I delete mail in the Inbox it does get deleted on the server immediately* in Settings --> Accounts --> fetching mail --> Sync server deletions = ON and when I delete a message = delete from server and erase deleted messages on server = immediate So in summary if auto detect IMAP namespace = AUTO folders show up but mail is not deleted on the server and conversely if auto detect IMAP namespace = no selected, and IMAP path prefix = Inbox folders do not show up but mail is deleted on the server p.s There is one further point worth note if Telstra mail if I move the folders I am interested in from children of local folders to be children of the inbox folder then all work , that is the folders how up and sever deletion occur. I cannot test this in gmail as I cannot create personal folders as children of the Inbox folder. I hope this description makes sense as it is quite complicated to explain. This would seem to indicate a but in the code of my logic is wrong. Any way comments and thought welcome. Perhaps there is a solution I am not aware of. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "K-9 Mail" group.
