My phone (Android 7 HTC M9) is dying from a bad battery. I have K9 Mail version 5.206 installed on it and it worked well. I have set it up with three accounts (one pop and two gmails). While I am waiting for the phone to be diagnosed and deciding to whether repair or replace I dug up my old old phone which is a HTC S1 and installed what I needed on it to get me by the next few weeks. On the old old phone I installed K9 Mail version 5.402.
First thing I tried was to export the K9 settings from my broken phone (version 5.206). It created a file com.fsck.k9\settings.k9s. I then installed K9 Mail version 5.402 on my old phone. I moved the settings.k9s to the com.fsck.k9\settings.k9s on the old phone. Launched K9 mail. It did not see the settings. OK then I went into Settings and there was an option to import and export settings. I selected import settings. It gave me options to select Music, Pictures, Gallery, Drop Box...there is no option to actually Browse or select a file which I have previously exported? So that didn't work. I then decided to randomly changed a few settings. Exited the app and came back. Then I did an Export Settings and see where the file goes. It created a file com.fsck.k9\k9_settings_export_2018-01-05.k9s. OK, how do I SELECT this file so I can import it? I decided the import is not working. So I need to manually create the account settings then tweak everything later. I added one account which is my POP3 account. Configured that and tested that it's working sending and receiving. I then need to add a second account. Only there appears to be no way to do that? I then Googled the topic, and it says to add a new account "For any additional accounts they can be added by going to the accounts menu, and then tapping the ‘Add account’ option in the overflow menu." Only I don't see the Add account option, nor do I see an overflow menu. Once the single account has been added, it appears the top level menu has disappeared. I am no longer able to even go back to the menu with the Import/Export settings option. When I launch the app, the inbox or folder list of inbox/outbox/send...appears. Then isn't a higher level menu that I can see that was available in the older version that I ran on the broken phone. I then went through all the Global settings, Account settings just to make sure there isn't any options to turn on or off certain folders and displays. I then changed Show Folders to every combination there is to see if it makes any difference, even though I have no idea what 1st class, 2nd class folders are, I turned everything on just to see. I don't even see an option for an About menu. If I use the back button of the phone it exits the app entirely. So, there is no way to set up multiple account or reach a higher level menu in 5.402?
