Is it just me, or is it a bit surprising that k-9 doesn't seem able to handle MIME attachments that are forwarded emails?

If someone forwards me an email, with the forwarded email as a MIME attachment, rather than "in line", when I try the view the attachment in k-9, I am offered a choice of apps to view it: Samsung Email, and gmail.

doesn't k-9 register with Android as being able to display such attachments? e.g. for MIME Content-Type: message/rfc822?

or have I something misconfigured somewhere?

thanks very much,
calum.
