TLS is basically the successor to SSL, with a new name, with TLS 1.0 succeeding SSLv3. So it's more or less the same thing, with the caveat that older versions are not recommended. I think at this point even early TLS versions aren't recommended. So adding SSL to the mix of TLS as an option is usually not a security win.
