On my Android tablet I have K-9 Mail Version: 5.600 running the latest software and on my phone am running K-9 5.600 also under Android 9.
Phone software was recently updated but this problem has existed on both the phone and tablet for a long time, but finally got sick of it and decided to ask for a solution. The email account in question is IMAP and I suspect that is related to the problem as my other account is POP-3 and doesn't have the same issue. When I check my email on the account in question I receive only one copy of each email in my inbox, as expected. When I delete I only initially get one copy in the Trash folder but when I refresh a second copy appears. Similarly when I delete an email from my Sent folder. Initially only one copy appears in Trash but as soon as I refresh a second copy appears. If I send myself a test email I initially get the copy of the one I delete from Inbox and when I delete the Sent one I finish up with two copies, but as soon as I refresh I get a second copy of each, meaning a total of four in Trash! I never just Empty Trash because I want to double check before permanently deleting just to be sure, plus some emails are deleted just to keep my Inbox manageable, so some emails in Trash are kept until I'm sure they've been finally dealt with. If I don't refresh before deleting I just have to repeat the process as the deleted copy reappears even though I have "When I delete a message" set to delete from server. I assume it's somehow grabbing the second copy from the server??? How can I prevent this please? I've looked for such a setting but can't find it so I'm either blind or .......... ???
