I see. Thank you for your feedback Luca.
So then why are Inbox and Sent exempt from this obtuse presentation? It gets more ridiculous the more I know of it.

Sent also shows "(Sent)" (at least here). The INBOX is quite obvious: it's always the first folder shown.

Do many people want to mislabel their folder names in a way that doesn't reflect their function? I don't know. There seems a concensus amongst all other email clients I have ever seen in 40 years of using them that this isn't a clever idea, but what do I know. The usual approach is that you can add additional folders if you want, and name them anything you please, but the core ones remain and do exactly what it says on the tin. Not in K-9 though.

Well, I just use thunderbird and it only shows the localized version of the folder, and that's not a good idea either when I have to find the real folder name on the server (talking about imap here).

More importantly, how would I edit a folder name to say 'Beatrix' or whatever? I see no controls for editing folder names. I ask because a) it would be interesting to know and b) I might be able to name it as blank, so then at least I'd just have (Draft) etc, rather than Draft (Draft).

You create a folder with whatever name then, in the account settings, folder setting, you assign a purpose (sent/archive/spam/drafts/etc.) to a (previously created) folder of your choosing. So, sorry, there's no way to have a folder with a blank name.

Bye
