I too have a similar problem. If one particular person sends me an
e-mail, K9 crashes when I try to open it. If he copies in his
secretary, it doesn't. (Or it might be the other way round - I can't
honestly remember). I have given up on finding the cause, and just open
his messages in another client. It's a mystery.

If an app closes without asking if it can send feedback to the
developers that looks like an out-of-memory to me. But a simple mail
doesn't look like being a plausible trigger for that.
Additional question: Do you use any widget or similar that has the
right to control k9?
