        Very strange! Haven't seen that bug yet. Do you have a
network card installed in the PC, or is this a modem-only PC?
I *think* version 0.95 always looked to the network card to get
a MAC ID at startup. The latest version will look to the HD
volume serial number if no NIC is available.

        The most recent binary is in the "alpha" directory of
"ftp://ftp.echogent.com/Kaboodle";. It has some very small problems
that have been fixed in version 0.99 which I hope to release this
week. Please give that alpha version a try, though, and let me
know if the error persists.
