Trevor:

Wow, great questions. Let me dive in and answer/dodge them
inline:

Except for the size of your network...I'd say you're a bit
more advanced than our target user. But I can work with that. :)

We've had a request to put a "GUI switch" into a menu, and
based on the user choice it will either show like it does now, or
present like a Windows-ish file-explorer. So it's on my list, but
not above getting the VPN capability more stable.

Well, that was harder. :) Yes, right now it presumes exactly one,
fixed-size, /24 subnet, which is hardly accurate for everyone. We're
working now on adding a "subnet tracker" which will keep track of how
many /24's it has detected and continuously monitors. Going *smaller* than
/24 probably isn't needed, as we use a "flash ping" technique to scan the
/24 subnet that hardly takes any time at all.

I think I know that bug...I think one of the developers snuck
in a call to a traditional ping rather than our custom "flash ping", so
when Kaboodle discovers a new device, it starts a several-second process
of ping'ing everything. This has to go, and it will soon.

A search-function is a really good idea. Right now, as you can
tell, the only way we sort things is based on "detected OS". Let me think
on some ways to make that better...

Yes. In 0.99b (coming soon!) Kaboodle uses only one TCP port
for a VPN, not two. And you can tell it to use whatever port you want
(it defaults to the Zebedee default 11965).

Also, we're working on a version now that won't require *either*
side of the VPN connection to adjust their firewall/router settings at
all. Pretty cool. That's what I'm holding out to be "version 1.0";
should be ready in November.

I took out Kaboodle's "service option" as VNC already had a
service option, and the two seemed redundant. I'll burn some braincells
on this one too...

Glad you like it! I hope to make it even more suitable for your
needs.

cheers,
Scott
