G'day Scott, Nah - no change.
Detecting network 5 devices found classifying devices 1-5
Kaboodle has caused an error in KABOODLE.EXE. Kaboodle will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer. (twice).
Yes I restarted - same result.

Okay...try this one. The 0.99e pre-release is available on our ftp server:
ftp://ftp.echogent.com/Kaboodle/beta/BETA_4Dec04.zip
I changed the use of an MSDN function in there which should prevent it from searching "unconnected" networks, and keep it looking only at connected ones. On WinXP, this also caused some really sloooooow startup behavior.
Please let me know if that 4-Dec-04 binary is still flawed.
thanks, Scott

Hello! Thanks to Marco Dülge for suggesting this: please try disabling the IEEE-1394 controller in your Windows device manager, and see if that lets Kaboodle resume normal operation. According to Marco, with it enabled, Kaboodle 0.99d was crashing just like your PC. But when it was disabled, the crashing behavior disappeared.
I hope it works for you (and I hope we can fix it easily)!

Oh, rats. Are you running on WinXP SP2 as well, or is one of the non-Kaboodle PC's running SP2? And...would it be okay if I sent you a "Debug" build of Kaboodle? It produces a number of log files which would help be track down this problem.
Kaboodle was running on an PC running Win ME. It would have discovered one machine running Win XP SP2, and one XP SP1 (Others are not Windows.)
I'm happy to run a debug version if I can help.
