I don't seem to have a config.rpath in my tree. Also, I did a fresh checkout after I checked it in and it worked fine as far as I could tell.
Apparently it is needed by gettext. If you do "grep config.rpath" you may find three occurences in "configure", "lib-link.m4", and "aclocal.m4" (obviously as it is a copy of lib-link.m4). I am copying "config.rpath" in the repository.
Maybe we've forgotten something when lib-link.m4 was added...
