The first fix (JNI vs C++) was already posted by Mark Wielaard, and I've checked it in yesterday.

I'm testing his other fix right now ;) But it shouldn't be crucial to build kaffe with qt-awt
Agreed, it should build without it, i.e. it is non-critical to getting it operational. Although IMHO it is definitely the right-thing-to-do(tm).
