Thanks, Dalibor. I have not tried this, but Guilhem's last patch to kaffe/kaffevm/systems/unix-pthreads/thread-impl.c has solved my problem.
Now unix-pthreads works and all regression tests pass on my FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE mahine.
