the problem was/is bridging code cannot at present interface with Geronimo. it only supports JBoss-TM and JOTM. EWS forks wants it to work with Geronimo and until that happens it will be in Kandula. At the time Kandula was first being developed Geronimo itself was in its infancy so only JBoss/JOTM were tried.
