ಪೂರ್ವ ಪದದ ಅಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇ, ಉ, ಋ ಗಳು ಇದ್ದು ಮುಂದೆ ಅಸವರ್ಣ ಸ್ವರಗಳು ಪರವಾದಾಗ ಪೂರ್ವ ಪದದ ಅಂತ್ಯ ಸ್ವರಗಳಾದ ಇ, ಉ, ಋ ಗಳಿಗೆ ಯ, ವ, ರ ಗಳು ಏಕಾದೇಶವಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ಸಂಧಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಯಣ್ ಸಂಧಿ. ಉದಾ: ಪ್ರತಿ + ಏಕ =ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಮನು + ಅಂತರ = ಮನ್ವಂತರ ಪಿತೃ + ಆರ್ಜಿತ = ಪಿತ್ರಾರ್ಜಿತ.
