Renewable Energy in the Public Sector understanding opportunities 23 June 2011, Barbican, London The public sector has a key part to play in the fight against climate change, as well as ensuring the security of the country's energy supply. The Public Accounts Committee has criticised the UK's 'unacceptably slow' progress towards meeting its renewable energy targets. The Coalition Government intends to accelerate the speed and rate of investment in renewable energy projects: 'An extra £2 billion will be invested in the Green Investment Bank to support low-carbon infrastructure projects. Planning laws will also be reformed, while a new floor price for carbon will be introduced.' Fig 1.
