TITLE: Takaful (Islamic Insurance) Consultant ESTIMATED PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: 45 days LOE
1. OBJECTIVES: Develop Takaful Financial Products for Insurance companies in Afghanistan Assist Insurance companies in developing Takaful Financial product manuals Build capacity of Takaful department of different insurance companies. The Takaful consultant will work closely with deferent team, to implement Islamic Takaful products. . 2. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design Takaful (Islamic Insurance) operating model to be applied to difference insurance companies. Work with different insurance companies to support their Takaful operations, the should include the following: i. Accounting and finance related practices includes accounting treatments, and financial statements transaction ii. Systems & accounting transaction iii. Takaful Products policies and procedures iv. Products processes including issuing policies, handling and reinsurance v. Organizational Structure vi. Documentation vii. IT System recommendations viii.Regulatory issues Design & develop different products under Takaful which match the needs and address the gaps which are identified by different insurance companies in Afghanistan. Provide capacity building Work closely regulatory team to review legal document. Provide technical assistant & training to insurance companies on Takaful (Islamic insurance). Conduct Train of Trainers to build capacity the capacity of insurance companies. 3. DELIVERABLES: A generic Takaful Operating Model that can be implemented to different insurance companies. Design and implement Takaful operations. That should include the following. i. Product manual including policies, procedures, accounting transaction, collections, legal documentations and contracts. ii. Organizational Structure for the insurance company’s Takaful development including roles and responsibilities and relations with other departments. iii. Takaful operations Chart of Accounts (items in the institutions Chart of Accounts) iv. Takaful systems parameters. v. Marketing activities to support the Islamic insurance ( Takaful) companies based on their brand vi. Three Takaful asset products to apply to insurance companies. vii. Three Takaful liabilities products to apply to insurance companies. Conduct the following training sessions: a- Two training programs on Takaful practice and products for insurance company. b- One Train of Trainers TOT program for insurance companies 4. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: Ø MBA or equivalent advanced degree Ø 5 years of experience in Takaful and insurance solutions development and implementation projects Ø Significant experience in Countries with significant Takaful practice. Ø Supervision and senior management experience. Ø Strong technical and writing skills in English language. Ø Fluent in English.
