Yep, it will go back to default after your program terminates. If you need to to reset for something later in your code, you should save the original value and reset it manually. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that you have to do this. I thought perl's "\n" was smart enough to know about this as long as you stay on one single platform (even OSX).
