Today I applied the kdb-v1.8-2.4.7 patch to kernel 2.4.7, hoping to get
the kernel debugger and NMI watchdog working. The kernel debugger seems
to work fine, however I have run ito some trouble with the NMI watchdog.

On boot, the kernel does find and re-enable the APIC on my AMD
Thunderbird CPU. However, when I go to enable the nmi watchdog (echo
"1" > /proc/sys/kernel/nmi_watchdog), I get the following message:

"set_nmi_watchdog failed -5, value not changed"

Is this a known problem? Has anyone besides myself experienced it?
Perhaps there's a technical reason why NMI watchdog can't be implement
on a Thunderbird. A cursory glance through the archives didn't show
anything similar, so I thought I'd bring this to your collective
attentions.
