Limor, I had similar problem before. It seems to me that the kernel source distributed by Redhat is not compatible with kdb patch.
I then downloaded the kernel source from kernel.org and patch it with kdb patch. The new kernel with kdb in it run fine on Redhat's Linux. The kernel version is 2.4.21.
