It would be good if this also supported mid: links for pointing to email
messages stored in the default email application. 

Here is my workflow: In Thunderbird, I have the Copy Message ID extension which
allows me to copy the Message ID of a message by clicking on a button. That has
the form of mid:<messageID>. I keep the mid: link in my notes stored in a txt
file I open in Kate. I can then open the mid: link in Firefox and that opens
the message in Thunderbird even if I have moved it to another folder. Very
handy for keeping notes and referencing email messages. 

If Kate could make the mid: links clickable, the above would be seamless. We
wouldn't have to paste the link into Firefox.
