Thanks for the report.
Without a crash dump it is quite hard to figure out what has gone wrong.
Are you able to generate a crash-dump with GDB if drkonqi is not
installed/works?
gdb /usr/bin/kate
run
then when Kate crashes type
bt
and attach the output here
