Bug ID: 497230
Summary: Multimedia control: Is often not up to date (displays
old song in playlist not the one currently being
heard)
Classification: Applications
Product: kdeconnect
Version: 1.3.2
Platform: Android
OS: Android 13.x
Status: REPORTED
Keywords: usability
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: android-application

SUMMARY
Version of my Android App is in fact 1.32.5 - Play Store i selected 1.3.2 as
nearest option above).
I use the multimedia control to control Kodi, playing music. KDE connect rocks
(I use Kore - the Kodi Android app - as well, but KDE Connect saliently
permits me to change to sound output device and seem son the whole more
responsive too and to send Kodi custom commands ... just frigging awesome!)
Alas, the updates it receives or request are flaky at times. I cannot find thus
far clear reliable steps to reproduce but the symptoms are very frequent and
are:
1. Often when I look at the Play page of the Multimedia Control feature I see a
song (and cover image) that was playing but isn't any more (another song is
now). I fix this by tapping the "back" symbol and then the Multimedia Control
box again and it reflects the actual song being played. Clearly opening the
page polls Kodi (over MPRIS I suspect), but sometimes when displaying the app.
I generally have it running and simply flick to it by swiping up from bottom of
screen which shows me all the apps open - a bit like ALT+TAB on Windows) and
then swiping right till I find it, and if it's not there will start it from a
home screen icon. Haven't pinned this behaviour or either manner of displaying
the page but suspect very strongly it's in the former case when the app is
running and I reactivate it. I suspect it at this point it displays what was
and fails to poll for what's currently playing.
2. The Notification often shows the right some but the background album
cover/image from the previous song. The texts are updated, and seem always to
be accurate (not like in 1) but the cover image does not.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Kodi on a server (not your phone)
2. Add the MPRIS addon: https://github.com/wastis/LinuxAddonRepo
3. Add some music to the library
4. Play some music
5. Install KDE Connect on the same server (and make sure kdeindicator is
running)
6. Install KDE Connect on your android phone
7. Connect your phone to your server
8. Open the Multimedia Control page on your phone
9. Do other stuff on your phone while songs play
10. Some time redisplay the KDE Connect app on your phone (on Android 13 with
default settings thats swipe up from base, then right till the app shows)
11. Observer where the displayed some is the one you're hearing.
OBSERVED RESULT
It's often not
EXPECTED RESULT
It always is
